7. Half hull model of the Star

The Star was designed by the American Francis Sweisguth in 1911. In 1932 the
Star became an Olympic class en is therefore the oldest class at the Games.
Thanks to the classic design the Star class is still very popular. Until January 2009 a total of 8380 boats were built. Worldwide approximately 2000 Stars compete at international regattas.
The boat has a minimum weight of 671 kg and the sail is limited to a maximum of 26.5 m2.The simple sail plan and rigging, the forward position of the mast and especially the large area of the sails, are the main features of the Star. The hull shows a shallow bottom, which is curved lengthwise, providing a relative short bow to the Star.
Half hull models
I am currently building a set of two half hull models of the Star.
